The Not-So-Fine Print

(a.k.a. Hei-Day’s Terms & Conditions)

Last updated: November 1, 2025

Welcome to Hei-Day — a place for design, everyday magic, and the occasional bit of fine print. By browsing our site or making a purchase, you’re agreeing to these terms (a.k.a. the not-so-fine print). They help keep things fair, clear, and running smoothly for everyone.

1. The Basics

Hei-Day (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates hei-day.com
and our Portland, Maine shop. We’re a small business built on good design, good intentions, and good vibes. These terms apply to all online orders and in-store purchases.

We may update them occasionally (we’re evolving, after all). The most current version will always live here, and continuing to shop or browse means you’re cool with any updates.

2. Placing Orders

By shopping with us, you confirm that you’re old enough to do so legally in your state or province — or that you’ve got permission from someone who is.

Please use our products responsibly and for their intended purpose. No funny business.

3. Products & Availability

We do our best to keep everything on the site accurate — photos, details, prices, you name it. But sometimes typos sneak in, or an item sells out faster than expected.

If something needs to be corrected, discontinued, or updated, we reserve the right to make those changes at any time (we’ll always do our best to let you know if it affects your order).

4. Pricing & Payment

All prices are listed in U.S. dollars. Taxes and shipping are calculated at checkout.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Shop Pay Installments — because sometimes “treat yourself now, pay later” just makes sense.

5. Shipping, Returns, Exchanges

The full story lives on our Shipping & Returns page, but here’s the highlight reel:

  • Orders under $150 ship for $10, and orders $150+ ship free.
  • Online purchases for unused items in their original condition may be returned if shipped back within 14 days of delivery.
  • In-store purchases may be exchanged or returned for store credit only within 14 days.
  • Sale items and special orders are final sale.

Once your order leaves our hands, we can’t control carrier delays (we wish we could). But we’ll always help you track things down if something goes astray.

6. Accuracy of Information

We aim for perfection but don’t promise it. Occasionally, a description, photo, or price might be off. If we catch it, we’ll correct it — and if it affects your order, we’ll reach out to make it right.

7. Copyright & Content

All images, designs, and text on hei-day.com are the property of Hei-Day or our partner brands. Please don’t copy, reproduce, or reuse them without permission. (It’s not very design-forward.)

8. Third-Party Partners

We use trusted partners — like Shopify, our payment processor, and a few delivery folks — to keep everything running smoothly. We’re not responsible for their practices, but we only work with reputable services we’d use ourselves.

9. Privacy

Your privacy matters to us — really. How we collect, use, and protect your information is outlined in our Privacy Policy
 and Your Privacy Choices
. Both are written in human language, not legalese.

10. Limitation of Liability

We hope everything you buy from us sparks joy and looks great doing it. But if something goes wrong, our total liability won’t exceed the amount you paid for the product in question. We’re not responsible for indirect or incidental damages (like your cat knocking over your new vase).

11. Indemnity (the grown-up part)

If you misuse our website or products in a way that causes damage, you agree to cover any resulting claims or costs. Basically, don’t be that person.

12. Gift Cards (a.k.a. The Hei-Card Clause)

Hei-Day electronic gift cards (“Hei-Cards”) are issued and managed by Hei-Day LLC.

  • No expiration or fees: Hei-Cards never expire and never carry fees.
  • Where you can use them: Redeem online at hei-day.com or at our Portland, Maine shop.
  • No reloads: Hei-Cards are single-load only — once the value is used, the card retires gracefully.
  • Cash-back rule: If you redeem a Hei-Card in person and the remaining balance is under $5, you can request that amount in cash (it’s the Maine way).
  • Lost cards: Treat your Hei-Card like cash. Lost or stolen cards can’t always be replaced, but if you still have proof of purchase, reach out to hello@hei-day.com and we’ll try to help.
  • Refunds: Returns for purchases made with a Hei-Card are reissued as Hei-Card credit.
  • Limits: Cards can’t be redeemed for cash (except where required by law), reloaded, or used to buy other gift cards.
  • Unclaimed property: Hei-Cards follow Maine’s unclaimed-property rules. (As of 2025, gift cards sold after 2022 aren’t reportable to the state.)

Full gift-card details live on our Gift Card Policy page — which, like everything we do, keeps things fair, simple, and design-forward.

13. Governing Law

These terms — and any disputes that arise from them — are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, USA.

13. Questions?

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading the fine print (we appreciate that kind of attention to detail).

For any questions, concerns, or friendly notes, drop us a line at hi@hei-day.com or use our contact form. We love mail almost as much as we love good design.
