New York City Transit Authority: Objects
Stand clear of the closing bookcase doors. NYCTA: Objects packs in 400+ artifacts from the New York City Subway, meticulously collected and photographed by Brian Kelley. What started as a hobby of hoarding MetroCards in 2011 spiraled into a full-blown archive of subway ephemera—tokens, tickets, signage, and all the gritty, glorious bits that make the system tick.
This is the first catalogue of its kind: a design-lover’s ride through urban archaeology, turning overlooked scraps into cultural treasure. Equal parts design history and love letter to the city that never sleeps, it’s proof that sometimes the best stories are printed on cardboard (and occasionally smeared with subway grime).
