Jacob E. Bang became Holmegaard’s very first creative director in 1936 with a mission: make glass so good-looking, you’d want it on display every day. Trained as an architect, he had a knack for blending clean Scandinavian lines with the craft of mouth-blown glass. His Primula collection proves he knew exactly how to make “practical” and “gorgeous” the perfect match.

Holmegaard has been blowing glass and minds since 1825, when a Danish countess decided her peat bog needed a glassworks (true story). From humble beginnings, it grew into Denmark’s most iconic glass brand, teaming up with top designers to make everyday tumblers, collectible vases, and everything in between. Still a household name nearly 200 years later, Holmegaard proves glass can be practical, beautiful, and just a little bit magical.
